Motivation
Regardless of your situation, the best way to ensure you actually get yourself started on a healthy lifestyle is to set powerful, compelling goals for your fitness. Michelangelo once said that “The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it”. The truth is most people never decide exactly what they want. This is unfortunate because the number one reason for failure in losing body fat (and general failure in LIFE) is the lack of clearly defined, written goals. Really, how can you hit a target that you can not see? Therefore, together as a team you and I will set goals for yourself that are specific, measurable and big with realistic deadlines. There are no unrealistic goals, only unrealistic deadlines.
Resistance Training
Anywhere I train you I will be able to duplicate an entire gym environment, minus the crowded parking lot and dirty locker rooms. My style is to use both cutting-edge equipment and manual resistance that stimulates the exact muscle you wish to target. The benefit of this compared to regular machines is that you will always go to failure within a specific repetition range, thus you can get very specific with your training (no more guessing which weight to use).
Training with manual resistance is only possible with a trainer and it is therefore that I myself actually hired a trainer to get crazy workouts that achieve results and target muscles that were never possible before. The great thing about it is that there is no down-time in between exercises, which is one thing that is promised with The Fitness Girl: Unparalleled results!
Flexibility
Through my abovementioned resistance training you will get stronger and tone & firm, but to have 100% efficiency in your workouts, you must have perfect control over your body in its full ranges of motion. This will only speed up your results. Without optimum levels of flexibility it may not even be possible for you to reach your goals injury-free. This is because when your muscles are tight in a certain area, they are negatively affecting your posture which prevents you from doing the exercise right.
By giving you assessments that lead to static, active, and dynamic stretching routines you will find yourself to ‘love’ the exercising more as it will feel better overall. Additionally, the better your flexibility the more you will reduce soreness and risk of injury, while you actually increase your relaxation and quality of life.
Cardiorespiratory Fitness
All exercise, regardless of the duration or intensity must use the cardiorespiratory system (your heart and lungs) to either keep up the activity or recover from it. From my experience I have seen many overweight people perform hours of cardio per week on the same routines thinking they’re going to “burn off” the fat. These ‘cardio junkies’ often have no specific plan and are likely to get bored with doing the same cardio for the rest of their life. The reality is however that cardio does not have to be boring! If your routine is switched up frequently you will find yourself looking forward to some new and exciting cardio.
That’s why with me you will receive a custom-tailored cardio program which you can follow on the days you do not have a session. There are dozens of modern ways to do cardio and I will guide you through every single one. Add that to the fact that my intense workouts burn a maximum amount of calories and you may never have to stand in line at the gym again.
Nutrition
I am often asked on how to lose weight and if it can be done quickly. Yes, you can lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, but then you will be confusing weight loss with fat loss. Generally you don’t want weight loss, you want fat loss, this makes sure that your muscles will start showing and you will get ‘tone and firm’. To do so, you must enhance your metabolic rate while watching your calories IN versus calories OUT (the #1 rule in nutrition):
If you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.
If you consume less calories than you burn, you will lose weight.
In this equation, the quality of the food determines whether this gained or lost weight is fat or muscle.
So the simplest approach to lose weight would be to drastically cut calories from your diet….
Right? Wrong!
Cutting calories will always backfire. The more you cut, the more your body fights to hold onto its fat stores as reducing calories signals the “starvation response” where the body tries to “survive” and hold onto its calorie reservoir known as fat. That is why the most efficient approach to fat loss is to:
Decrease your calories a little…..
…..and increase your activity a lot!
